About the Elderly Care Volunteer Program
Elderly care volunteer projects aims to provide companionship to elderly members of society in elderly care homes. In these homes the staff is responsible for the well-being of persons under their care, be it medical, therapeutic or otherwise. Here is where you can help.
By taking part in such volunteer opportunities in Jamaica, the elderly members of the society are given a chance to express themselves, which makes them feel whole once again. Additionally, with time, you can learn to hone your skills, especially listening, and help you master the courage to interact with different people with unique thought processes.
You will be working in an elderly care home for the duration of your volunteer abroad program; there is a minimum duration for this program.
Requirement
Experience working with the elderly, geriatric studies would be a plus.
Role as a Volunteer
An elderly care volunteer can help in various areas which include providing assistance to nursing staff, read and entertain residents of the home, support activities such as arts and crafts and help to update patient’s medical and personal records on the computer.
