As a volunteer sports coach you will assist the school with sports training activities that are fun and educational at the same time. About the Sports Coaching and Development Program
The sports development and leadership program runs during the school year except on regular school holidays. The school system in Jamaica is split into primary and secondary education. Primary school age from 6 to 12 years old and secondary school goes up to 17 years old. As part of the program, you will be required to come up with exciting training programs and gaming lesson plans and organizing games which can be used as a bonding opportunity by children and youth. Volunteers who are interested in this program must sign up for a minimum number of weeks usually a minimum of 4 weeks.
Requirement
Volunteers must be mature and responsible, have good knowledge of the sports program they will teach or coach.
Role as a Volunteer
- Assist to develop or improve the school’s sports training program
- Educate students about the importance of good nutrition and exercise
- Impart team building skills to students
- Set up Fundraising campaigns for needed supplies such as gears, balls etc.
